                                       Bio

Stephen K Wagner earned his BA in Theatre Arts/Directing from California State University, Fullerton, and his MFA in Arts Administration from Southern Utah University.

A theatre artist from multiple angles, Stephen was a member of the Rude Guerrilla Theatre Company in Santa Ana, California.  With the repertory company, he played roles in 'Tis Pity, She's a Whore, The Lower Depths, Frankenstein in Love, The Vampire Lesbians of Sodom/Coma, and the West Coast Premiere of Sarah Kane's Cleansed.

A love of puppetry led to roles with Walt Disney and Vee Entertainment (Playhouse Disney Live On Stage!, Jim Henson's Bear in the Big Blue House: LIVE!, The Voyage of The Little Mermaid), training under prolific puppeteers Noel MacNeal, Marty Robinson, Greg Ballora, and Thom Fountain.

Stephen served as Faculty/Guest Director For Cal State Fullerton's Grand Central Theater, helming productions of both published work (A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, The Orphan Muses) and mentoring student playwrights with workshop productions of their plays.

As an Arts Administrator/Educator, Stephen has worked with the Utah Shakespeare Festival, New York Theatre Intensives (Ensemble Studio Theatre, The New York Arts Program), and recently served as the President/Artistic Director for Cedar Valley Community Theatre (CVCT) in Cedar City, UT. With CVCT, he has directed large-scale musicals such as The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Bright Star, while leading the organization to a tripling of public and private funding.

His artistic work has garnered multiple Broadway World nominations.  He is the recipient of the Excellence in Directing honor from the Kennedy Center's American College Theatre Festival.

He is currently the Lead Advisor, and faculty, for the College of Performing and Visual Arts at Southern Utah University.
